inding the right relationship between our faith and our finances is often a troubling journey. Many Christians find that they are more willing to trust God for a secure spiritual future than a secure financial one. The problem with that kind of reasoning is that it denies God's interest in our daily lives. We paint Him into some sort of heavenly box that restricts our reliance on Him and limits the partnership He invites us to join. That further limits what He wants to do through us, and the praise He deserves for being "The True Giver of Every Good Gift".
Last Sunday at Hillside Christian Church we studied from 1st Corinthians chapter Nine. Paul reminds the Corinthian church that God is so involved in daily life that He "supplies seed to the sower and bread for food". In the same verse he says that God will provide an increase in seed to plant and in the resulting harvest. Throughout this section of scripture he uses phrases that teach how God desires to bless in every part of a life that is generous. By our giving we bless others who then offer thanksgiving to The Father. The cycle of blessings continues to grow and it is proof of our confession of Christ. Faith demonstrated through finances is one clear path to seeing God's hand in His work and in our lives.
All believers have the opportunity to join with the Lord in joyfully living the truth in Galatians chapter six, verse seven. We can sow to a harvest of love and good works knowing that God honors the planting.
At Hillside last Sunday evening we were all blessed with a harvest of joy and thanks to the Lord and His family for all the wonderful things He has provided and done in our lives the past year. After a marvelous meal we gathered in the worship center and opened the microphone to anyone wishing to express his or her thanks. A steady stream of young and old came forward to share the joy in their hearts because of God's work in their faith and relationships the past few months. No greater proof is needed of God's love and involvement in "real life". God is doing things in lives today that only He can do. We simply praise His Holy Name!
A rare opportunity is offered at Hillside this Friday from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Linda Mirante, a nationally know speaker to youth and women's issues, will present an evening of inspiration and challenge to teens and parents. The theme for the evening will be centered on "Positive Choices for Teens". Ms. Mirante has a powerful message and appeals to all ages. The church will provide food. Several door prizes will be awarded during the evening's activities. The community is invited and teens and parents are encouraged to attend as our guests.
