Children of all ages will recite the story of Jesus' birth and act out the manger scene all across the country and in many parts of the world in the next few days. They will read of the virgin birth, the wise men, the shepherds, angels, stars, and the rest of the usual cast involved in our Savior's arrival. For many who will hear, the words are so familiar that the power of their meaning is lost on the preprogrammed ears of the listeners. We are used to hearing this story and gloss over the incredible things that took place without much thought.

At Hillside last Sunday morning we took a fresh look the amazing things God has done in His dealings with humanity down through the centuries. From creation through the Flood to the life of Christ and the church He has always acted as only He can. The birth of the Savior is another demonstration of how He carries out His will without the limits of human understanding or permission. The God we serve is able to do whatever is necessary and in His will at His discretion. He does things people can hardly imagine. Gabriel reminded Mary in Luke 1:37 that "nothing is impossible with God". He was right and it is still true. We need that kind of God to provide the salvation we need. Romans chapter five tells us that He does this when we are the least deserving and helpless in our sin. The God of the birth is also the God of the plan of salvation in Christ. Praise Him for His very nature and love for us!

This Sunday evening at 6:00 PM Hillside will present the "Stranger in the Manger". Our children and youth have prepared a wonderful program of drama and song to take us back to the birth of the Savior and give us a look into the lives of some of those in Bethlehem at that time. Everyone is invited to join us for this special presentation.

This Saturday morning at 7:30 am all men and boys are invited to our monthly Men's breakfast at the church. Good food and fellowship will be provided along with a brief devotional from God's Word. There is no charge and visitors are always welcome.

Several of the Sunday Bible School classes are collecting funds to provide soap for the needs of Show-Me Youth Home in Camdenton. Laundry is always a major activity with so many children doing what children do. We are glad to be able to +help in this small way.

You and your family are always welcome at Hillside Christian Church.
