t was a wonderful day at Hillside last Sunday. Both services were well attended and classes for Bible school were full of eager students. We learned how powerful our Lord is and how He keeps us focused on what really matters from the sixth chapter of John. Jesus was able to walk across the water to the disciples in a boat during a storm. When He arrived, they were very afraid. They had good reason to feel fear. Jesus identified himself and told them not to worry. He then joined them in the boat and they were immediately across the lake. People marveled at this and came to hear what He had to teach them. He called them to focus their energies on those things that led to eternal treasure, not temporal physical pursuits. His advice is for us as well. Eternity will last a long time and we need to live as if we are aware of it.
Hillside was privileged to have the SMSU Christian Campus House Drama Team in for Sunday evening service. They presented a thoughtful series of skits on family issues and how the media has helped portray the breakdown in family life over the years. They also offered the only real hope for family unity in Jesus Christ. The skits were powerful and very well performed.
This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is part two of the Hillside Youth Rummage Sale.
A wide assortment of items from clothing to furniture will be available in the fellowship hall. The first event was very successful and the youth are hoping this fund-raiser will help them reach their goal. The money raised will support their effort to attend a major youth event at the Christ in Youth Convention in Tennessee this summer.
Camp season is upon us and interest is high. A schedule of the weeks and fees is available at the church. We are fortunate to have the use of an excellent facility in Everton, MO. Maranatha Bible Camp is very well equipped for children of all ages and provides the perfect learning environment for getting closer to Christ. The camp is well staffed and children are always nourished in their walk with the Lord.
If an 8:00 am service suits your needs on Sunday morning, we invite you to come join us for great worship and fellowship. Our early service has been well attended but we always have room for more.
