Last Sunday at Hillside we looked at the lives of some individuals who were met on the road of life by Christ and were changed. Our perception of how life is going and where it will end up can almost seem to be on autopilot at times. Some call it the "rut of life" rather than the road of life. Jesus met two people on the road to Emmaus the same day He was raised from the dead. They were just living life still in wonder at the things that had recently happened in Jerusalem. The Lord appeared to them and taught them and ate with them and they were changed. Now it all made sense. They had been with Jesus.

Paul recounts his life-changing trip to Damascus in Acts 22. He was a brilliant forceful man on a mission. He was fully confident in his purpose and fully equipped to carry out. He believed he was doing God's will and wouldn't be stopped. Then he met Christ and every thing changed in a flash of light. In a few very trying days his life was totally rearranged and after accepting Christ his eternity was changed as well.

Phillip and the Ethiopian eunuch in the eighth chapter of Acts is another example we discussed. Phillip's plans were changed and the Ethiopian's life and eternity were changed because of Christ.

There are many other examples in God's Word of people who found in Jesus the way to a life that was true and really mattered. Many were martyred for their new way of living and the faith they had. They were just living their lives until they encountered the Son of the Living God. It's time to look at our own lives and ask if Jesus has changed anything in us recently. He is the only one who really can. He is the only one who can truly forgive eternally and restore us to the right relationship with God.

We'll be taking pictures for a new pictorial directory this Friday and Saturday. There are many new faces in our congregation and it will be good to help put names and faces together.

Hillside will be having its monthly men's breakfast this Saturday morning at 7:30 am. All men and boys are invited to come and share the good food and warm fellowship.
