Our Children's Fall Fun Fest was a blast! We hosted children dressed as all sorts of animals and Bible characters, and some that were unidentifiable. The fellowship hall was converted into a fun house with lots of different games for all skill levels. Balloons were free and everyone won a prize in one of the games they played. All the activities had a spiritual theme with a basic Bible lesson at each location. Over a hundred children took part as their parents observed. One of the special treats of the evening was a picture booth where children and parents could get their picture made while dressed in all their glory. There were several visitors from the community who also took part in the many free activities. This is our third year for this event and we plan to do it again next year. Children are important at Hillside Christian Church.

Our study during Sunday services was focused on the teaching of Paul in 2nd Corinthians five. Paul reminded the church in Corinth that they were a new creation in Christ, and that the old things had passed away. Because of the atoning sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus, those in Him have forgiveness and eternal life. Paul also said that in view of these facts we are not to look at or judge people by human standards. The old human standard of values is flawed and must be replaced by the spiritual standards that come from God. The old way isn't good enough, we have to learn to see as the Lord sees, and love as He loves.

Paul also points out that by accepting the forgiveness from God we also accept the ministry He has in store for us. We are to be His ambassadors in the world. We are to carry His message of reconciliation into the darkness of a fallen world. We are to let Him speak through us in the lives we are living. In the last part of this passage, Paul points out that "today" is the day of salvation and now is the time to be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ. There must be a sense of urgency in our lives about those who don't know Christ as Savior. We don't know how long it will be till He returns to claim His bride, His Church. We are called by God and empowered by Him to do His evangelism, His reaching out to a lost world. If we are not truly evangelistic are we truly Christians?

Our Men's Breakfast, normally scheduled for this Saturday, will not be held due to a conflict with our Spiritual Journey Retreat at the church. The men will be back on their regular schedule next month.
