The vast majority of us and those we know have spent our entire lives in freedom. We may not think we are as free as we would like to be sometimes. Laws and the effect of government can appear to be more intrusive than is comfortable in some situations. The IRS insists on knowing how much you made and that you pay your "fair share" like everybody else. Anyone can make their own list of areas in which they would like more freedom. The truth is that unless you've spent time in another country with a different from of government and culture you can only imagine how free we are.

Marshfield is good at celebrating Independence Day. People come together for the Parade, the Fair, and really just to see each other. The beauty of it is that while we're doing what we do so well you can hear people comment about what it means to be Americans and be free. There will be some around in uniforms that remind us that we will fight for the right.

The whole idea of freedom originates with our Creator. He has given mankind the option of choosing ultimate freedom in Christ or ultimate slavery to sin by rejecting Him. Paul wrote in the fifth chapter of Galatians that it was for freedom that Christ set us free. God is big on freedom. He thinks it is worth dying for.
